Ancient Wisdom

Four worlds, four distinct legacies. Explore historical calendars, symbolic traditions and writing systems alongside clearly identified modern experiences.

These traditions have different origins. Mesoamerican time cycles, Egyptian skywatching, the Gaulish calendar and runic inscriptions should not be treated as a single ancient astrology system.

The Time of the Maya

The Tzolk’in combines twenty day names and thirteen numbers in a 260-day cycle. Discover its documented calendar context without confusing it with later modern interpretations.

The 260-day ritual cycle existed alongside other Maya time counts, including the 365-day Haab’. Their combined cycles helped place dates in wider calendrical sequences, and Maya calendar traditions remain meaningful in some living communities.

Beneath the Pharaohs’ Sky

Egyptian decans, skywatching and calendars reveal a complex history of astronomy and religion. Modern guardian-deity horoscopes should not be mistaken for verified ancient practices.

The decans were groups of stars associated with night-time hours and the organisation of the year. Egyptian astronomical practices changed across periods; they should not be reduced to the modern idea of a birth horoscope.

TOUTATIS — Your Celtic Sky

One birth date, three separate readings: a reconstruction of the Coligny calendar, the modern 21-tree horoscope, and Robert Graves’s literary interpretation of trees and Ogham.

The Coligny calendar survives in fragments of a bronze Gaulish inscription. Mapping its structure onto present-day birth dates requires an explicit reconstruction convention; the result is not a historically documented personal horoscope.

Mysteries of the North

Explore runic alphabets in their historical contexts and discover the distinction between inscriptions and contemporary symbolic rune readings.

Runes were first and foremost writing systems documented through inscriptions. The Elder Futhark and later runic alphabets belong to different historical settings; present-day divinatory readings are modern symbolic uses.
