Three calendars, one date

Tzolk’in
Twenty day names combine with thirteen numbers to produce a ritual cycle of 260 days. This count remains part of living traditions in some Maya communities.

Haab’
The Haab’ comprises eighteen twenty-day months and five additional days. Paired with the Tzolk’in, it forms an 18,980-day Calendar Round, or 52 Haab’ years.

Long Count
The Long Count dates events beyond the 52-year round. Its positional system mainly uses base twenty, with an adjustment for the 360-day tun.

Maya traditions are diverse and alive today. We distinguish documented historical practices from modern interpretations and do not present an invented universal birth horoscope as historical fact.
