Your chart and the sidereal zodiac
Western astrology usually uses the tropical zodiac, anchored to the spring equinox. Jyotish generally uses a sidereal zodiac referenced to the stars; ORACLASTRA uses the Lahiri reference. This difference can change your signs. Lagna is the sign rising on the eastern horizon at birth and sets the chart’s houses. Your Moon Rashi is the sign occupied by the Moon. Accurate birth time and location matter, especially for the rising sign.
Nakshatras: the Moon’s reference points
Jyotish divides the Moon’s zodiacal path into 27 Nakshatras, each with four Padas. Your birth Nakshatra adds an interpretive layer to your Moon sign. It works alongside the rising sign and the wider pattern of planets and houses.
Karma as a symbolic framework
Karma is a cultural and spiritual concept relating actions to their consequences. A Jyotish reading may use it to reflect on habits and choices. A chart cannot establish a past life or sentence someone to an unchangeable destiny.
Dashas and planetary periods
Vimshottari organizes a sequence of periods linked to planets. Their traditional interpretation draws on the natal placements. The depth offered varies by report; these cycles are symbolic reference points, not a promise that an event will happen.
