Start with your birth date

The simplest starting point is a date conversion. Enter your Gregorian birth date in the free Mayan birth chart calculator to see your Tzolk’in number and day name, your Haab’ date and your Long Count. The calculation itself is separate from the modern symbolic stories sometimes marketed as “Mayan astrology.”

Step 1: Find your Tzolk’in day name and number

The Tzolk’in advances through twenty day names and thirteen numbers simultaneously. Each number-name combination returns after 260 days. Your resulting day name is often what English-language searches mean by a “Mayan birth sign,” but traditions, languages and interpretations differ between Maya communities. Do not treat a single online description as the definitive interpretation of a living culture.

Step 2: Understand the Haab’ result

The Haab’ has eighteen periods of twenty days plus a five-day Wayeb period, totaling 365 days. It is another coordinate for the same date, not a competing personality sign. Together, a Tzolk’in and Haab’ designation make the Calendar Round, which repeats after 18,980 days.

Step 3: Read your Long Count

The Long Count locates a date in a chronology extending beyond the repeating Calendar Round. Its common five-position notation uses b’ak’tun, k’atun, tun, uinal and k’in units. In particular, a tun counts 360 days—not the same as a 365-day Haab’ year.

Why do calculators sometimes disagree?

To convert a modern date, software must choose a correspondence between Gregorian dates and historical Maya counting. ORACLASTRA states its GMT 584283 correlation in the calculator’s method notes. Compare correlation choices before treating two websites’ different results as a mathematical error. Language-specific naming conventions can also differ.

Is your Maya day a personality prediction?

No calendar calculation establishes a scientific personality profile or a guaranteed prediction. The Smithsonian’s Living Maya Time project documents that calendrical traditions are living practices, with distinct community knowledge. ORACLASTRA’s original symbolic writing is a contemporary creative interpretation; it is not a reconstruction that claims to represent all Maya communities.
